In order to prevent the introduction of Nipah virus disease into China and protect the health and safety of our citizens, according to the "Regulations on the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China" and its implementation rules, the announcement is as follows:

1. Persons from India who have symptoms such as fever, headache, dizziness, lethargy, vomiting and muscle soreness should apply for health quarantine at the time of entry, and cooperate with health quarantine such as body temperature monitoring, medical inspection, medical investigation and so on. The Customs shall take medical measures in accordance with the prescribed procedures for entry personnel who have found the above symptoms; and adopt strict disinfection measures for the secretions or excretions of suspected patients. Persons who have the above symptoms within 45 days of entry should seek medical attention immediately and explain to the doctor the recent travel history.
2. Vehicles, containers, cargo, baggage, mail, and express mail from India must be subject to sanitary quarantine by the customs. The person in charge, the carrier, the agent or the owner of the goods shall cooperate with the customs sanitation and quarantine work, and may be infected with Nipah virus. If it is contaminated, it should be sanitized according to the regulations.
3. Personnel traveling to India may consult with Customs and its International Travel Health Care Center before going abroad or visit the Health and Quarantine Column of the General Administration of Customs website (http://www.customs.gov.cn) for relevant information; Enhance disease prevention awareness, maintain good personal hygiene habits, especially avoid contact with bats, pigs and other animals, avoid direct contact with patients or infected animal secretions, excretions, etc., avoid eating contaminated by the animal's feces, urine or saliva. Food, if you find any related symptoms, you should seek medical advice immediately.
4. Nipah virus disease is a new infectious disease caused by Nipah virus. The mortality rate is as high as 75%. It can be transmitted through direct contact with the patient's secretions or excretions, food contaminated with Nipah virus, or The incubation period is mostly 4 to 14 days and up to 45 days by direct contact with tissues, secretions or excretions of infected animals. In the early stage of the disease, the main clinical symptoms are flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, sore throat and vomiting. Subsequently, symptoms such as dizziness, lethargy, and confusion may occur. In severe cases, coma or even death may occur. There are currently no specific drugs and vaccines for the treatment of Nipah virus disease.
The contents of this announcement shall become effective as of the date of promulgation and shall be valid for 3 months.
